Final Reflection
The first time I took the Technological Resources course, I was so afraid and didn't know what to do about my teaching performance, because I've never taught English or any other subject before. It was hard for me to think about myself as a teacher in a pretty short time. But now I've had so many resources through the last 4 months and I'm getting more confident in my transition from a person who doesn't know anything about teaching to a person who is learning about technology and its application in education.
I'm blissful and excited about those apps, programs, and tools I currently know thanks to this course. I'm very anxious to apply them in my teaching methods but, unfortunately, I currently don't have any students or classroom environment where I can apply all of this. But I'm preparing everything to make this dream come true, soon. I need to teach and apply everything that I'm learning here.
Meanwhile, I'm using those Google tools such as Docs, Slides, and Forms to make my teamwork easier than before because I usually used to work with Word and PowerPoint as my default tools to make presentations or written documents. They're useful but, in terms of collaborative work, Docs and Slides are way much better because I can do my part of the job and immediately appear remotely to my teammates.
I usually had to save my progress, then share it with my partners, and then they could see my work, and add their progress right after that, they had to return the document to me to check if everything was alright. It was so tedious.
Another application of those apps that I have been working with is Google Scholar and its citation tool. Now I take from Scholar every document or paper I have to read to make my written homework such as essays or presentations. It's a very useful source of information and, as I mentioned before, the citation tool makes me smile every time I have to put my references in a document because I used to take years to do the citation, (part of it was because I didn't know how to cite anything), but now it's very easy for me and it also helped me to identify the elements of a citation and its structure so now, thanks to this tool, I learned how to cite whether I use it or not.
I think using technology to improve and reach education goals is now a thing this course made me feel it's way too easy than I thought. This sentence will always be true as long as my environment allows it because we know that technology requires a lot of issues that we have to cover, and it's not always easy to fulfill them. But I think that in my particular case, these technology applications are helping me so much to improve my performance as a student, and I'm pretty sure this will help me soon in my teaching performance, too.
